Chalet l’Ange
Highlights
A comfortable two-bedroom larch-wood chalet with sauna that sleeps up to 7 people in La Tzoumaz Chalet l’Ange is situated 1km from the ski slopes and less than 2km from the resort centre. The chalet is spread over 2.5 levels with stunning views and charming decor.
Bedrooms & Bathrooms
The chalet comfortably sleeps four people in two double bedrooms, and up to 7 people when all three places on the mezzanine are also in use.
Each of the two bedrooms is fitted with a double bed (one is 160cm by 200cm long and the other is 180cm by 200cm long) and twin built-in wardrobes. One bedroom has windows and the other has glass doors expose the fantastic views across the valley and allow the summer sunlight to filter through in the mornings. These doors also allow access to the garden level in front of the chalet.
The open mezzanine area overlooking the living area is set up to sleep up to three further people. There is one single bed and one double sofabed (120 cm by 200cm long).
If you wish to travel with children under 2 years old, just let us know and we will provide a cot and a high chair for your chalet.
Equipment
The main floor of this chalet is an open kitchen/living/dining area organised into separate areas. The kitchen is equipped with everything you might need for holiday catering, including a dishwasher, kettle, coffee machine, fridge with ice box, oven and hob.
The dining area is set up with cosy wrap-around bench seating and four wooden chairs beneath a window that looks out on the Vallon d’Arby and the Mont Gele. There are fondue and raclette sets for a traditional Swiss evening meal on a snowy winter’s night.
The seating area in front of the large glass-fronted log fire is cosy and comfortable with sofas and armchairs to sink into.
A washing machine, hairdryer, iron and portable outdoor barbecue are all available for you to use. There is space to store all of your ski wear and boots, helping you to keep all your snow-sports clothing and equipment dry and organised.
Relaxing
Let the sauna take the edge of your aching muscles after a hard day on the slopes. It’s hard not to relax when you are surrounded by La Tzoumaz’ stunning panoramic views and pretty snowflakes gently drifting past the window. On a blue-sky day, the view stretches 20km, from the floor of the Rhone Valley up to the peaks of the Haut de Cry and the Mont Gond, and in the other direction towards the legendary Vallon d’Arby and its un-pisted ski itinerary. Take a seat in a comfy chair with a glass of local wine at the end of a hard day on the slopes, light a log fire and just contemplate the beauty of the natural world. There is a balcony with coffee table and chairs, and a small terrace area to ensure you can absorb the fresh mountain air from outside. If you are in need of distraction, you can retreat to the mezzanine area to watch cable television or log into your Netflix account on the internet-enabled TV.
Internet
Chalet l’Ange is equipped with high-speed WIFI for your own private use during your stay.
Pets
We’re sorry but this is a pet-free property. Please browse our selection of pet-friendly rentals if you would like to travel with your pet.
Parking
There is space one car inside the garage at the roadside and two more outside. A flight of steps leads up through the garden to the chalet (see photos). Winter tyres and/or snow chains necessary in winter due to a steep and sometimes icy corner on the access road. Contact us for railway or airport transfers.
Winter
The ski-slopes are only a 600m uphill walk from the chalet, or you can drive to the free parking spaces in the resort. An alternative in good snow conditions is to ski down through the gardens to the bus stop below (good skiers only).
The modern high-speed telecabin carries you from La Tzoumaz up to the top of the Savoleyres in less than 8 minutes, from where you can decide to ski back on the quiet La Tzoumaz slopes or ski down to Verbier’s legendary slopes and world-class off-piste opportunities in the vast 4-Valleys ski area. It is possible for good skiers to ski back to the chalet in good conditions by following the tracks through the forest and around the neighbouring chalets.
Summer
In summer, the area turns into a hiking and mountain biking paradise, with hundreds of kilometres of marked trails criss-crossing the mountains, awash with alpine flowers and a range of wildlife to spot. Visit the Maison de la Foret with its wildlife exhibitions and its Five Senses Nature Trail, and the starting point of many beautiful hikes. The “Bisses” are relatively flat footpaths that follow the water as it trickles around the mountainsides, where for centuries farmers and villagers channelled the streams for their own uses. They have been preserved now and can be an incredible way to spend a day or more on easy hikes with stunning views across the Rhone Valley or over to the Massif des Combins. We’ll provide you with plenty of tourist information including our favourite suggestions for day trips that are easily reachable from La Tzoumaz, from spectacular gorge walks, cheese factories and roman festivals to rainy-day ideas such as underground lake tours. The road that winds up the mountain-top to the panoramic Croix-de-Coeur Cafe-Restaurant opens as soon as the snow melts and from here you can continue the drive (or cycle) all the way down into Verbier.
In the peak summer season from early July to late August, we provide you with free pedestrian lift-passes and the telecabin link to Verbier operates daily from 08:45 to 12:30 and from 13:30 to 16:45, meaning that you can easily access the famous resort as a pedestrian, or accompanied by your bicycle for an extra fee. You can even use a variety of mountain lifts to make your way up to Mont Fort at 3300m for Europe’s highest fondue and incredible mountain panoramas that include Mont Blanc and the Matterhorn. Don’t miss the Swiss National Celebrations in La Tzoumaz on August 1st, or the famous festival of live music performances, the Verbier Festival, which runs from mid-July to the beginning of August.
